Rejuvenation and Resurfacing: Gentle Waves®

Gentle Waves® is a new technology that Wendy is pleased to make available to her patients. As the name implies, each treatment requires no preparation, is completely comfortable, and produces very little irritation or disruption in the skin’s structure.

The Gentle Waves device is a bank of more than two thousand light-emitting diodes (LEDs). Each of the LEDs emits a low-intensity light on a wavelength that is tuned to cause chemical changes in the cells that form collagen. Collagen production is increased; at the same time, production of the enzyme that breaks down collagen is reduced. The visible effect is smoother skin texture, tightened pores, and softened fine lines.

Each Gentle Waves treatment takes, literally, one minute. After Wendy checks your skin, you simply sit in front of the device while the diodes flash. You feel nothing, and you see no immediate results. You leave the office ready to resume your activities, and no one can tell that you have had any enhancement performed. The results become evident gradually: Your friends and colleagues will begin to notice how fresh and pretty you look!

Most patients choose a month-long series of eight or ten treatments. Many schedule other services during this period, and end each visit with a quick Gentle Waves session. Gentle Waves can be used as a powerful complement to nonablative laser resurfacing or Thermage®, or can be performed as a standalone aesthetic service.
