*As a nurse, Wendy has always been passionate about helping patients make smart decisions where health is concerned.  This is one of the reasons she offers permanent makeup and eyelash extensions - two procedures sometimes found in salons and spas.  It is her belief that consumers are usually unaware of lax health policies that can result in infections when these treatments are performed in non-medical settings. Because of her background as an operating room nurse, she knows that breaches of safe technique are usually subtle and undetectable, except to a trained eye.  For example, in many places offering eyelash extensions, it is common for consumers to receive treatment with the same brush dipped repeatedly into the same bottle of solution, both of which were used on previous clients.  Even though it may be unintentional, this unhealthy practice (and many other kinds of mistakes) can spread bacteria and viruses from one patient’s eyes to another’s.  Similar mistakes also occur during permanent makeup/tattoo procedures.
